A 21st century resurgence of a Porsche Design Classic.

The classic Porsche Design sports sunglasses worn by Yoko Ono in 1979 for the very first time were recently reintroduced by the luxury brand for their timeless popularity. State of the art modern materials have been used in the new edition of the sunglasses, using Beta-Titanium, a popular material commonly used in space travel technology ensuring lightweight flexibility.

The sporty, 80’s style shield sunglasses were made famous by Yoko Ono who wore them so often they soon became labeled as the signature Yoko Ono Porsche Design sunglasses. The singer was pictured wearing them on the cover of “Rolling Stones” magazine as well as on the cover of two record sleeves in 1982 and again in 2007. She also wore the glasses in a fashion shoot she did for US fashion magazine “New York”.

The Porsche Design Yoko Ono signature sunglasses are testimony to the core values that underpin the brand, those of functional, timeless and purist design. Many Porsche Design products have gone on to become classics  since the inception of Porsche Design in 1972 founded by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.  The product range includes watches, sunglasses, luggage, sports and fashion collections, writing instruments, small leather goods and fragrances. All Porsche Design products are designed at the Porsche Design studio in Zell am See (Austria) and are available in South Africa from Porsche Design, Hyde Park Corner, Johannesburg.
