How to get the best hair all-year round? Terence, of Terenzo International Hairdressing Professionals,
reveals insider hair tips and tricks.
What’s the best way to maintain hair in winter?
Moisture, moisture, and more moisture. Smooth Down Masque from Redken saturates the hair with enough moisture, and it’s the ideal way to avoid static, frizzy and uncontrollable hair.
Winter’s hottest hair trends and colours are…?
Bright reds and coppers.
What should every woman keep in her beauty cupboard for fuss-free hair solutions?
Mythic oil from L’Oréal Professional for all hair types is a fabulous product with multiple uses. Intensely moisturising,
it penetrates the hair cuticle without leaving an oily residue. It can be used overnight or 10 minutes before shampooing.
It can also help prevent breakage; you can apply about two pumps to the hair before styling.

What’s hot for summer 2012?
Trends shift, but it’s essential to find a cut that suits you. Consult with your stylist and together design a look that’s right for you. The trends that are coming through subtly include fringes (soft sweeping as well as blunt strong and exaggerated) and vibrant colours. Textures are softer and styles are more feminine. Men are starting to experiment more with colour as well as facial grooming.

Who’s inspired you over the years?
The late Vidal Sassoon inspired so many artists. He was truly the “father of hairdressing”. His passion for the industry continues to inspire me.
As a L’Oréal brand ambassador, what are your duties and how has this appointment changed your career?
It’s a great honour to have been chosen as the only South African ambassador for the L’Oréal international team. This appointment allows me to travel and share my knowledge and experience with colleagues all over the world. It’s a great platform to express my creativity. I entered the industry because I felt it was the perfect vehicle to showcase my skills and change lives in the process.
Which cut/style, in your opinion, is timeless and why?
The “classic bob” can be shaped and manipulated, as well as changed, in various ways so that each client still achieves her individual look. A bob can be graduated; it can be worn with or without a fringe. One can texturise the hair or layer it. The possibilities are endless.
What’s been the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career?
