Call her Ambassador Sozzani.
Editrix Franca Sozzani has an impressive new role to perfect. The visionary behind Italian Vogue and L’Uomo Vogue is now a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador on behalf Fashion 4 Development.
Fashion 4 Development sees the world of fashion and the United Nations unite in order to empower people from disadvantaged communities worldwide. The initiative is focused on getting fashion leaders to work on sustainable development projects.
Sozzani is already doing her bit by focusing on Africa, and promoting diversity in fashion. Earlier this year, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was L’Uomo Vogue’s ‘Rebranding Africa’ issue (May/June 2012) cover star.

A roundtable discussion in New York, with high profile delegates from the world of fashion, retail and the United Nations, is set to take place soon and Sozzani will be there. “The event in New York is very exciting because it’s the first time that the U.N. and fashion have come together,” says Evie Evangelou, Fashion 4 Development’s co-founder and global chair.
