The Daphne Guinness Collection auction takes over Christie`s London.
At 44, there is no doubt that couture lover Daphne Guinness has an enviable collection of designer creations. From classic couture gowns to a more gothic-inspired edgy look in leather and lace, her style turns heads, especially when she dons the exaggerated Alexander McQueen heels.
Her close friendships with the late McQueen and style editor Isabella Blow propelled Guinness to new fashion highs, and the fashion collector is a front row regular in Paris, London, Milan and New York.
The A-list guest and fashion magazine darling is now doing her best to keep her friends’ memories and dreams alive, with the hottest fashion auction taking place at Christie’s London tonight.
The Daphne Guinness Collection, which has been on view since June 23, comprises couture, prêt-a-porter and shoes owned and worn by the Guinness brewery heiress, as well as stunning photographs captured by Mario Testino (a regular Vogue contributor) and Bryan Adams, the world-famous Canadian rocker-turned-photographer.

The fashion-laden auction honours Blow and a cause close to her heart: the British fashion industry. Proceeds from the sales of the pieces will benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation, which supports the growth of the British fashion industry and the next generation of designers.
The collection worn by the petite heiress is said to include creations from Balenciaga, Christian Lacroix, Chanel, Gareth Pugh and Alexander McQueen. “Christie’s is very proud to be able to play a part in helping Daphne to achieve her forward-looking and charitable aim,” says Pat Frost, director of Christie’s Fashion Department, who describes this fashion auction as unique, adding that it offers a rare glimpse into the world of fashion as created for, and worn by, Guinness.
According to the Guardian the collection should garner great interest from Asia due to Guinness’ petite frame. “Daphne is absolutely tiny, so we are actively looking at China and Asia where we have many clients with similar measurements,” adds Frost. Christie’s most recent auction was devoted to the iconic Elizabeth Taylor and her coveted jewels and wardrobe.
