Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick hits the runway.
Gossip Girl’s Chuck Bass, we mean Ed Westwick, strutted his stuff for Philipp Plein, as the Swiss label debuted its men’s spring/summer 2013 collection in Milan this week.
The British actor, who’s perfected the role of bad-boy Chuck Bass on the Upper East Side-themed series Gossip Girl, is the fashion label’s ambassador, and features in its print campaign, photographed by Terry Richardson.
A bit of a departure for fans of Chuck Bass, who’s always sporting three-piece suits teamed with print ties or bowties and signature trench coats, Westwick walked the runway for the first time sporting a more casual look but with Chuck Bass-like confidence and appeal.

The casual and age-appropriate look included the slightly more subdued ensemble of black trousers and a buttoned-up shirt teamed with a pale blue single-button blazer. His finale look comprised a printed tee, teamed with white trousers and a brown leather bomber jacket (with skull detail). The odd accessories included a moustache (so un-Chuck Bass) and a five-o’clock shadow (Blair would have none of that either). Overall his smouldering good looks were ever present.
The rest of the collection rocked thanks to its edgier leather pieces, printed tees and shorts, denim, trainers, biker helmets and skateboards, modelled by runway professionals.

Previous non-model stars to headline Philipp Plein campaigns include Lindsay Lohan (for the women's spring/summer 2012 collection) and Adrien Brody who helped open its first German store in 2011.
This is certainly not the first time that models have had to make way for actors on the runway. In January, Prada’s men autumn/winter 2012 collection was a Hollywood fest as Tim Roth, Adrien Brody, Gary Oldman, Emile Hirsch, Jamie Bell, Alex Carril, Victor Carril and Willem Dafoe took to the runway and showcased serious power and style.
