MEN AT WORK

Mr. Price and Mister Trickett get creative.

Budget-friendly and fashion savvy chain Mr. Price returns with a dedicated men’s line with the help of Mister Trickett.
Why the need for a limited edition men’s line, you ask? It’s down to the perfect fashion combination: where quality and choice meet.
“I think a lot of men just don’t get the choice that ladies do, and when they do it’s overpriced. My concept is to give men clothes that they can build on season after season,” says Neville Trickett, the creative man behind the totally cool and modern Mister Trickett for Mr. Price line.

Created exclusively for the Mr. Price Project Limited Edition Label, this capsule collection rocks. Paying attention to quality and detail (rich textures and colours), the Mister Trickett for Mr. Price collection encompasses wardrobe must-haves that are timeless. From jeans to cardigans and shirts (crisp white or denim) to shoes, the line is appealing, so much so that some of the men’s shirts and cardigans will catch the eyes of female shoppers too. Available in 47 select Mr. Price stores only, this limited edition collection certainly ups the chain’s menswear appeal.

Neville is no stranger to Mr. Price having worked with the team for almost two decades on marketing and creative direction. As part of the group’s mission to help support local design talent, Project Limited Edition line was launched but had mostly focussed on women’s capsule lines. The Mister Trickett for Mr. Price line is the first exclusively men’s collection.

“There are about 22 pieces in this winter collection, and spring will see close to 40 pieces,” explains Neville, whose greatest inspiration is the city of Tokyo. He visits regularly. “The Japanese understand fabric and give the classics a fresh twist. I love their attention to detail, in fact every piece in this collection is based on my own personal collection that I have bought there over the years.”

According to Neville, this collection is just that: classics with a twist. These items, he notes, will outlast any seasonal trends. “My shirts are in 100% washed cotton, two denim weights, heavy white Bedford twill, a stunning fine baby corduroy, raw unwashed denim, off-white canvas denim, fine gauge knits, and 100% leather shoes and accessories.”
And does Mr. Trickett have a favourite item? “My all time favourites are the pure leather derby shoes in orange and dark navy, they have a slightly chunky top quality EVA sole which is as light as a feather. When you walk in them you feel like you’re in the clouds.”

So now that this collection is in stores, what’s next? “I spent a week in Tokyo designing my spring/summer collection. It is set to launch later this year. It’s an amazing collection featuring dirty pastels, wild print combinations, yarn dyed stripes, botanical camo and, of course, an all new take on footwear.” But for now, we’ll enjoy the men’s line.
