CUTTING HEIDI

Heidi Klum is a cut above the rest.

The world of fashion is getting ready to embrace the 10th season of Project Runway, set to air on American television network, Lifetime, on July 19.
The campaign surrounding this season is making heads turn thanks to Klum and her skin-revealing attire.
Down to the bare minimum (of course), Klum poses in black lingerie and a design-appropriate backdrop: a bed of scissors. As an added extra, the German media darling holds a pair of scissors too. Guess it’s true: it’s time to cut (a fab outfit) or be cut (out of the competition).

No stranger to risqué shoots, Klum is known for strutting her stuff up and down the coveted Victoria’s Secret runway as an Angel (elaborate wings and sexy lingerie in tow). “I got to the shoot and I thought they’d add the scissors in editing afterward… But nope, they wanted me to lie down right in the middle of the pile!” she tells People.com.

Together with her super-chic, design-savvy pals, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors and Tim Gunn, Klum is also sharpening her now coined phrase: “One day you’re in and the next day you’re out!”

Scouting the best talent, as in previous seasons, Project Runway presents challenges to the 16-member team of fashion design finalists whose creations are scrutinised by the cast of judges and high-profile guests (this season, Sex and the City stylist and designer Patricia Field and actress Lauren Graham make an appearance). As co-creator, producer and host, Klum has certainly proven that some reality television shows can stand the test of time. “I can’t believe that it is Project Runway’s 10th anniversary already! What an amazing milestone. I’m incredibly proud of the show and everything we’ve accomplished,” she notes.

The recently single entrepreneur (who was married to British singer, Seal) is showing no signs of slowing down. Hard at work designing her clothing and jewellery lines, coupled with motherhood (four gorgeous kids), the new season of Project Runway promises to be exciting (more meltdowns and even more elaborate designs). Focused on her future, while taking care of her family, 39-year-old Klum is happy. Noting that there are worse things in life than a separation, yes, like not making Project Runway’s final cut.

Past winners include Christian Siriano, who has garnered the greatest success and red carpet visibility, and Jeffrey Sebelia with his edgy children’s clothing line, La Miniatura.
In addition, Project Runway: All Stars is set to feature Katie Holmes as a guest judge (broadcasting date of this episode is yet to be confirmed).
With 10 seasons and many inspiring creations by passionate designers, Project Runway is set for a massively fashionable return. As Tim Gunn says: "Designers, make it work!"
