South African models strike a pose for Oscar de la Renta.
Renowned couturier Oscar de la Renta has enlisted not one but two South African models to headline his autumn 2012 campaign. Candice Swanepoel and Katryn Kruger form a new powerful modelling duo with this new high profile campaign.
The models look alluring in embellished Oscar de la Renta dresses, in an array of blue hues, featuring luxurious lace and ruffle detail, and not forgetting night-time perfect clutches in hand. The South African beauties stand side-by-side looking elegant and feminine in their designer gowns. The campaign was styled by Alex White (former W magazine creative fashion director) and photographed by Craig McDean.
Blonde Swanepoel and brunette Kruger take over from Karlie Kloss who has headlined five campaigns for the iconic designer.
Swanepoel, with her perfectly toned legs, has established a name for herself thanks to her high-profile gig as a Victoria’s Secret Angel. The 23-year-old model has also appeared in Sports Illustrated, Vogue and GQ. This campaign is quite a departure for the lingerie and swimwear favoured model, and should open doors to more high-end fashion campaigns.
Kruger’s career is on the up and up too. She was recently styled by Poppy Evans, Elle South Africa’s fashion director, for the July edition. “I really had no idea about fashion… and I would spend hours running around outside, barefoot,” Kruger told the South African edition. And here she is now, striking a pose for one of fashion’s most influential designers. Kruger, who walked the Valentino Couture show earlier this year, has already headlined Prada’s spring 2012 print campaign.
Judging by de la Renta’s devotion to his previous star model, here’s hoping that the beautiful South African duo of Swanepoel and Kruger gets to make a comeback for the spring 2013 campaign.
