Lip care brand partners with Glamour magazine to search for the country`s most stylish.

Premium lipcare brand Softlips has launched the Softlips Stylista Challenge in association with Glamour magazine. The challenge will search for the country’s most exciting young fashionistas, who will win a host of fabulous prizes, including a paid internship at Glamour magazine.

This year’s Stylista Challenge builds on previous years’ searches and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

“We’ve previously run stylist competitions, which have always been extremely popular. This year, though, we wanted to take this up a notch, so decided to work with ‘next big thing’ model Kaone, who really exemplifies the colourful, bubbly and stylish nature of our brand. We also partnered with Glamour magazine to offer a paid internship at the magazine – an awesome way to kick-start any fashionista’s career”, explained Natalie Burke the product manager at Softlips.

To launch the campaign and inspire budding style lovers, Softlips partnered with three hot stylists to style Kaone in three looks inspired by Softlips flavours.

Karen Wieffering’s look was inspired by the Acai Berry flavour and showed an urban energetic look, bursting with colour and excitement. “ Initially I was going to do graffiti and street style, but then quickly realised that the urban street culture of South Africa, combined with the Harajuku kids in Toyko, was something that was original, creative, and blended so well together”, she explained of her look.

Second stylist, Anna Verloren created a look that was inspired by the Papaya flavor and took a tropical pop theme. “The name made me think of all the cool straws my mom use to get us as kids and hot summer days, sipping on fresh cocktail juices. I wanted the picture to feel like that and for people to feel the summer vibe”, she said.

Charlotte Collins created a soft pastel look that was inspired by the French vanilla flavor and took inspiration from a delicately styled combination of classic elegance, natural beauty and thrift store finds.  she elaborated. “I aim to make the mundane look beyond fabulous”, she elaborated on her career as a stylist.

Fashionistas and budding stylists who are inspired by these shots can enter by interpreting their favourite Softlips flavor and styling it up the way they think it should be. Once entrants have chosen and styled their looks, they need to take a photo of it and upload it to the Softlips Facebook page or Glamour website. Entrants can enter as many times as they wish.

A selection of 12 finalists will be made from overall entries, and the public will be invited to vote for their favourites. On the strength of the public vote, six finalists will be chosen. These six lucky finalists will enjoy a mentorship day with the Glamour team in Cape Town, and the opportunity to style a full page fashion spread in the January issue of Glamour magazine. A final winner will be chosen from these, who will win a load of prizes, including a R10 000 paid internship with Glamour, a Blackberry phone and a hamper of ghd goodies.
