They say, if you can’t find well-framed spectacles that suit you, go ahead, and design a pair that works.
In true fashion style, that’s what Victoria Beckham has done. In her latest fashionable venture, Beckham steps in as optical frames designer.
The shortsighted stylista has just put the finishing touches to her small yet very modern-looking line of optical frames. And, they all meet her high-end fashion requirements.
Beckham, whose fashion line is already generating great revenue thanks to her body-defining dresses (as worn by Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria, Blake Lively and Jennifer Lopez), has teamed up with Cutler & Gross to create beautiful looking frames that work for him and her.
The collection comprises six glasses in three colour options. The frames are handcrafted to perfection in Italy. Using metal and acetate, there’s a diamante-embellished “V” detail too. The specs come in different shapes, including the Heavy Square (a little heavier in style) and The Kitten (lighter and more delicate in size).

The decision to create the line of frames was a very personal one. “I do need to wear glasses,” she tells WWD.
Turns out Beckham made the decision to include prescription frames designer to her growing fashion CV, because she needed a pair or two. The style icon explains that her search for fashion-right optical frames yielded nothing satisfactory, and so she decided to fill the gap in the market with her very own line. “I’ve always been quite self-conscious, so that’s why I’ve decided to do them myself,” she adds.
The Victoria Beckham designed collection is set to retail from £295 from early 2013, although store locations are yet to be confirmed.
This is not the first time that Beckham has tackled eyewear; the award-winning British designer launched a slick selection of dark, oversized sunglasses in 2010 that works well with her eponymous fashion line, naturally.
