ARCH IMPRESSIONS

Suzaan Heyns makes Melrose Arch her new home.

Suzaan Heyns’ edgy-meets-elegant designs can now be experienced in her trendy Melrose Arch store.
The boutique is laden with the latest apparel collection (for women and men), set against earthy-toned décor. The space is chic.
“I always follow my gut, and this felt like the best time to expand. Melrose Arch is not a typical mall, and it boasts a European shopping feel,” says Heyns.

The spring/summer 2012 collection on display is a mix of summer-right white and shades of grey pieces, including asymmetrical leather half-jackets for men and chiffon dresses for women. In addition to her designer creations, consumers can sample designer eyewear from Céline, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen.

The fashion label’s progression has surpassed Heyns’ expectations. Launched in 2008, the brand is now stocked at various retailers nationally. The store experience is important, notes Heyns. “The brand is continually evolving, and we plan to maintain its integrity through a personal shopping experience, and by pushing the boundaries in fashion design.”
Melrose Arch is already abuzz with designer brands, but a new local slant adds to its appeal. This is Heyns’ second standalone store in Joburg; last year she set up shop in Melville. And, although she is not sharing more about future expansion plans, Heyns hints that the possibility exists. “You never know,” she says.
