STYLE & SUBSTANCE

The magic of fashion takes over Sandton City.

Spring is here, and with the arrival of the new season comes another fabulous fashion event that’s not to be missed.
Sandton City, home to some of the hottest local and international brands, is bringing magic to consumers courtesy of the Fashion Circus, from 7-9 September.
Tipped to be a fashion experience of note, the Circus is set to showcase summer’s hottest trends in spectacular style.
For three days, stylistas can catch runway shows, and a host of fashion-laden activities, between 10am and 5pm. The fashion destination is Sandton City’s Fountain Court, and driving the Circus to new fashionable heights is Audi.
“Audi vehicles are known for their beautiful designs and unmistakable class. There is a perfect synergy between Audi and Sandton City’s Fashion Circus, which will be an incredible showcase of automotive beauty and style,” says Ryan Searle, head of Audi South Africa.
Experience the season’s latest buys thanks to an interactive catwalk, featuring trends from Pringle, Mango, Guess, Steve Madden, Country Road, Edgars, Stuttafords and Woolworths. With more than 300 retailers – boasting the best of local and international fashion for women, men and children – Sandton City is where shopping for trends begins.

But fashion goes deeper than just texture, colour and cut. Fashion has heart, and The Princess Project initiative is the perfect way for you to showcase just how much you care. Launched by Jo-Ann Strauss, The Princess Project initiative helps transform the lives of the less fortunate through fashion. If you have a gown (in pristine condition) that you are planning to archive (or have already put away with no plans to wear again), please donate it to The Princess Project. Your donation will be handed over to a matric student who is unable to buy an outfit for her end-of-year event. “I came up with the idea of The Princess Project when I realised how many evening dresses I had that I would probably never wear again, and how someone else could benefit from them. I know how much it is appreciated when women give away dresses that are just taking up space in their cupboards. I went to my matric farewell in a ‘previously loved’ evening dress that I’d bought with my mom from a second-hand store,” says former Miss South Africa, Jo-Ann Strauss. If you’d like to turn one matric student's night into a Cinderella story, please open your heart and your wardrobe. Fashionable donations (ranging from gowns to shoes and accessories) can be dropped off at the Sandton City Management Office in the centre’s Banking Mall or at the Fountain Court’s Information Kiosk, by no later than September 28. Your donation could transform the life of one future stylista. For more info, visit sandtoncity.com or call (011) 217 6000.
