Garance Doré strikes a pose for Net-a-Porter.com
To showcase the coveted autumn 2012 collection, retailer Net-a-Porter.com cleverly enlisted the help of photographer and blogger, Garance Doré. Yes, we’re talking about the very same stylista whose illustrations feature in Kate Spade’s latest capsule collection. Doré had to step away from her camera, albeit for a short while, and pretend to be a model, dressed in a Stella McCartney mini dress and killer Pierre Hardy heels. The look is accessorised with a chic Victoria Beckham bag.
Patrick Demarchelier, a fashion industry veteran, photographed Doré who gushed about the experience once the images went live. “Not that I didn’t know I had been photographed for the campaign, I mean... But guys it’s the kind of stuff that happens only once in your life, that you get that call…” she wrote on garancedore.fr.
In a behind-the-scenes video, the blogging photographer reminisces about her love affair with fashion, and how she “slashed” a pair of pants and thought it was cool. Her French mother didn’t think so.

Renowned for sporting a look that’s more masculine (comprising skinny jeans and blazers), she softens the look with killer stilettos or ballerina flats, explains Doré on Net-a-Porter.com. So, if you’re a fan of the fashionable blogger/photographer, check out her coveted items, including a blue Stella McCartney jacket, Giuseppe Zanotti folded leather ankle boots, Matthew Williamson printed skinny jeans, and an Yves Saint Laurent leopard print and leather tote.
But Doré is not the only non-model to star in the Net-a-Porter.com campaign; the online retailer tapped two other fashionably smart women to help showcase what’s in store for consumers this coming season. Television presenter and photographer, Amanda de Cadenet, and stylist, Kate Young, show off the looks they covet for winter on behalf of the e-store.
Net-a-Porter revolutionised the way in which women shop online. Following its success catering to women’s fashion needs, it launched mrporter.com for men.
