Have you ever walked into a boutique and just wanted to sit on the couch and absorb the aura? Nope? Well surely u haven't walked into a Porsche Design boutique before!
I visited the Hyde Park boutique and the instore experiance was daunting at first but more exhuberent above all.The architectural design of the store and display is captivating.Exclusivity and functionality are the foundation of the Porsche Design brand with timelessness and innovation being the heart of all design aspects of merchandise. One of my favourite items was the black and brown mens belt with a 360 degree rotating buckle. Talk about changing belts at the rotation of a buckle! Sailors won't be seeing soggy smelly feet anymore because Porsche Design has a solution! Stylish waterproof sailing shoes....... Wait for it....... A built in under sole drainage system! Its not too good to be true! It was disapointing that the womans range was far smaller than the mens range though!
All Porsche Design merchandise is designed in Germany for people with an aquired sense of style. Simplistic elegance. Futuristic. Apparel that speaks for itself. Investment Pieces. What real skhothane's are made of ;)!

It’s been an eventful two weeks in the Porsche Design Sphere, and sadly, today marks the end of the blog competition, but don’t despair, as I’ll be sure to bring you more news and views on this iconic brand as they will undoubtedly bring us unrivalled and fashionable yet understated works of art, be they in the form of clothing and home ware, or luggage and fragrances, as this design house seizes to amaze and entice.

It should be noted that there is a (forgivable) misconception that the Porsche Design House has a relation to the Automobile company of the same name, and although the founder of Porsche Design designed the famed Porsche 911, the brand has very little to do with the car/motor powerhouse aside from having been born into the Porsche family. When entering a Porsche design concept store or ‘shop-in-shop’, it is clear that there are no links to the car company, the only related ‘symbol’ being the 911 image on certain items such as cuff links or pens or a mini replica of the car in a gift box set. However, the same high standards and quality – if not better – can of course be found at Porsche Design, whether you’re looking for a yacht; piano or a set of golf clubs, you’re assured sleek design, comfort and the ultimate in design and engineering. And with celebrities like Jose Morinho and Kim Kardashian sporting Porsche Design clothing and accessories, you’re sure to stand out of the crowd and make a dashing statement in your ‘PD’ fashion must haves.

I hope you all enjoyed this exhilarating whirlwind of a journey with me and look forward to keeping you up to date on all the latest on this unbelievable company. Till next time, keep well and be sure to pop into the Porsche Design store at Hyde Park Corner soon.
We may only be halfway through, but 2012 has already been a remarkable year for Porsche Design (PD). I’ve often heard that 40 is a year of deep reflection for most, so let’s look at a few highlights of the Porsche Design’s 40th year so far…
In January they launched the much anticipated & largest Porsche Design store in the world (at 250 square meters) in Soho, New York. It includes a VIP shopping area and a specially designed wall showcasing the brand’s journey of 40 years of “Iconic Style”. “With the store in Soho we are taking the Porsche Design luxury brand to the next level - not only in New York City and the United States of America but globally”, says Dr. Juergen Gessler, CEO of Porsche Design Group.
The RawTec Blazer went on to receive the red dot “best of the best” award in the Fashion, Lifestyle and Accessories category. The design quality is unrivalled. This blazer (can I have it in red please?) is top of my lust list.

You’ll know from my previous blog that Michael Griffin, CEO of Porsche Design (PD) SA lives and breathes the brand. Every. Single. Day. And without effort. But I wondered how he would possibly find anyone to run his business day to day that truly shared in what he believed.
To find out I sat down for an impromptu chat (read: they didn’t know I was coming!) with Mariette Coetzee, the store manager and Lucie Dlamini, one of the sales assistants at Porsche Design. I already knew they were very capable, having visited the store a few times by now, but I was keen to get their perspective since they steered this ship every day….
Wisaal: How would you describe the PD brand to someone who knew nothing about it?
Welcome back J I hope all you Jozi fashion fundis have succumbed to temptation and visited the coveted Porsche Design store by now… if not though, not to worry, today’s blog has even more tantalising tidbits which won’t allow you to resist any longer.

Porsche Design caters to the needs of athletes and sport enthusiasts, with incredible gear for some of the most popular sports, namely football; running; golf; yachting and tennis. While they've teamed up with a leader in sport wear - Adidas - for sleek and intelligently 'engineered' sport/running shoes that not only look good, but are comfortable and technologically advanced as well, their sporting ensembles will not only have you drooling, but will ensure that you're well protected from various factors be it harsh weather conditions or that of the respective sport's, such as skiing or sailing. With awesome features like ‘breathable’ vents in their lightweight running/driving shoes, or water-repelling fabrics used to create sleek and luxurious items like windbreakers and shorts as well as ‘fast-drying’ caps, it is clear that this design house leaves very little to the imagination when creating these masterpieces as they cover almost every pertinent aspect and more.
Do you know how difficult it is to schedule appointments with almost all the cool people you know in just one week? Do you realise the enormous amount of reluctance to go shopping during winter?_ Thought so.
Which is why, I had to get all my outstanding STYLE STARS to the Porsche Design Boutique in consecutive sprees/shoots to bring you this uber-style-packed post on the most hybrid, cool kids that I knowJ
Just as I reluctantly peeled the award-winning red RawTech P'1140 leather blazer off my booty and got my breathe back, another beauty caught my eye...
Exhibit B: the off-white cashmere turtle neck
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, my favourite Porsche Design product range is the luggage. I think I have a thing for luggage in general- I love the way the smooth leather comes together in the form of a beautiful handbag or luggage set. I like feeling the edges of the bag and running my hands over the metal handles. It may be a slightly odd obsession but quality luggage just stands out and is a classy accessory to any outfit.
Porsche Design's luggage is set apart from what you'll find in other stores for a number of reasons. First, like all their products, an enormous amount of thought and attention to detail has been put into every item you'll pick up.
Aluminum protectors provide protection when pulling it over curbs and up or down steps, so you won't get any nasty looking scuffs. And every part of the luggage (wheels, buckles, you name it!) is replaceable at the store. It's nice to know that if something breaks, it's easily replaceable and you won't need to go out and buy a whole new bag.
Leather handles ensure that your hands won't get cold while carrying your bag down the sidewalk in icy Jozi (or European) weather.
The colours are also something special. The handbags come in colours suited to the particular season we're in.
The blue is simply gorgeous, right?! It's not only the exterior that looks good. Inside, you'll find handy compartments and bright lining so that you can find your belongings easily.
If you walk into a business meeting with one of these babies, how can you NOT be taken seriously?! Add in one of their signature pens, and the deal's as good as done.

I urge you to go to the store yourself and pick up one of these bags... pictures just don't do them justice. I take no blame for imposing any luggage obsessions on you!
xx

Life is too short not to surround yourself with beautiful things.
Looking at beautiful things is what makes me the happiest.
