The school was
started as part of Footwear Infrastructure Systems (FIS) to
develop footwear skills in Africa. Our mission is to pave the
way and assist footwear designers as well as footwear
manufacturers to enter the global arena.
The school was started by Glyn Giani in 2009 to develop the
much-needed footwear design skills in South Africa.
Based on methods taught by the best footwear design schools in
Italy, and adapted to suit emerging designers, the school equips
students with a solid foundation on which they can build and
hone their skills.
Our education philosophy includes a process of introducing and
helping graduates into the footwear industry. Through FIS we
incubate shoe factories with retail outlets, creating a platform
so that graduate footwear designers can design - and even
manufacture - their own shoe ranges. |
