Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy would like to congratulate 2010 graduates Minette Meyer, Nadine Holloway and Kutloano Molokomme for their successful debuts at Joburg Fashion Week 2011!
Meyer, Holloway and Molokomme were individually selected by AFI (Africa Fashion International) to showcase as part of the launch of 'Fastrack' at Joburg Fashion Week 2011.
A platform honouring fresh talent and providing real development within the South African fashion industry has been limited, at best, until now. 'Fastrack', initiated by AFI and Foschini, afforded fashion graduates from various institutions in Johannesburg the opportunity to showcase their talent during this year's Joburg Fashion Week. A day dedicated entirely to the activation of fashion design graduates.
The success of our three graduates was clearly marked by the response from the media/press surrounding each of the Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy graduates' collections. Chris Viljoen, Fashion Director at ELLE Magazine South Africa had the following to say about Kutloano, “I thought his collection was amazing,” and “He can become a really amazing designer, he has a really clear idea of where he is going and a specific design aesthetic which is definitely something to watch” (Read more online at http://www.elle.co.za/tag/kutloano-molokomme/). While www.shadders.net, a website featuring 'Best African Inspired Design', felt that Nadine's collection, “Exudes elegance and pure quality.” Roane Swindon of http://entertainment.za.msn.com/ as well as www.women24.com ranked Minette Meyer's 'Beauty for Ashes' collection in their lists of 'The best of Joburg Fashion Week 2011'. Lihle Jacobs, writing for www.women24.com, said the following, “This Minette Meyer feathery frock is the ultimate party dress.” Congratulations again to our graduates for the amazing work they are doing, you made Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy so proud!
