June: a month in the academic calendar that is dominated by examinations and winter holidays. At Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy however students are preparing for the long awaited Parsons The New School for Design Winter Programme. The two week programme allows South African students access to experience design at an international level. Providing our students with this opportunity is proof again that Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy is completely dedicated to „cultivating fashion leaders not followers.

Parsons The New School for Design, situated in New York, USA, have sent two of their top faculty members to the country to run the programme. This opportunity is exclusively available to students attending Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy. The students at the Academy are privileged to receive a global perception of design as they undertake a programme that has been designed and conducted especially for them by the faculty from America. The attendees are awarded a certificate by Parsons The New School for Design for completing the Winter Programme to substantiate successful achievement of the course objectives.

The Department of Fashion Design was launched at Parsons in 1906, and since the very beginning has been on the frontier of American fashion. Most people today will recognise Parsons as the host of the popular fashion reality show „Project Runway‟ starring supermodel Heidi Klum or perhaps their recent mentions on the trending television series Gossip Girl. Their alumni have been responsible for the highest level of clothing design in the last century and include the likes of Claire McCardell to Donna Karan, Tom Ford and Narcisco Rodriguez. “Along the way, they've revolutionized societal traditions and the industry itself. Today the graduates are joining the ranks of 21st-century fashion leaders.”
